Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan marked his 61st birthday on November 2 with a special treat for fans as the makers of his upcoming film King released its first song, Tu Mil Jaaye.

The track features Khan alongside Deepika Padukone, combining romantic sequences with glimpses of brutal fights, bloodshed and the shadowy world of crime. The contrasting visuals offer an early look at the different shades of Khan’s character in the action thriller.

Released at midnight to coincide with the actor’s birthday, the song follows the unveiling of King’s first look on his 60th birthday in 2025. While many fans had anticipated a teaser or trailer, the makers opted to introduce the film through its first musical release.

The song opens with Khan delivering the line, “Main qatil nahi, aashiq hoon, aur nishana meri mashuqa,” presenting a character who appears to balance romance with a dangerous edge.

The visuals initially focus on the chemistry between Khan and Padukone, showing the pair sharing intimate moments against scenic backdrops. Khan’s short, dark hairstyle also marks a notable change in his appearance for the film.

The mood shifts sharply as the song progresses. Khan appears with blood on his face and salt-and-pepper hair, engaging in violent confrontations against a backdrop of flames and destruction. The sequences hint at a darker narrative involving the underworld and smuggling.

Another line toward the end of the song reinforces the character’s menacing side. “Par is baar dil mein aag lagi hai, ab duniya jalaye bina maanega nahi,” he says, suggesting a man driven by intense emotions and a potentially destructive mission.

Tu Mil Jaaye features vocals by Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi, with music composed by Sachin-Jigar. International music star Ed Sheeran is also credited as a contributor to the track, adding to the interest surrounding the release.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, King features an ensemble cast that includes Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, Raghav Juyal and Abhay Verma, alongside Khan and Padukone.

Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, the film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on December 24, 2026.

With its blend of romance, high-stakes action and crime-driven imagery, the first song offers an early indication of the contrasting elements audiences can expect from King.
