Shraddha Kapoor’s ‘Eetha’ Trailer Strikes a Chord, Fans Hail Her Lavani Dancer Transformation
Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor has drawn widespread praise following the release of the trailer for her upcoming film Eetha, in which she portrays celebrated Marathi folk performer Ithabai Narayangaonkar.
Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film is based on the life of the renowned Lavani dancer, whose performances and contribution to Maharashtra’s folk traditions earned her a lasting place in the state’s cultural history.
The three-minute-and-two-second trailer, released Friday, offers a glimpse into both the professional and personal life of the legendary performer. It features Shraddha performing energetic Lavani dance sequences on stage while also exploring the struggles, heartbreak and personal challenges that shaped the artist’s journey.
The footage highlights how Ithabai remained committed to her art and cultural roots despite facing adversity. Actors Randeep Hooda and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub also appear briefly in the trailer.
Following its release, viewers took to social media platform X to express their admiration for Shraddha’s performance. Several users praised her transformation into the iconic folk artist, particularly her expressions, dialogue delivery and Marathi accent.
One viewer described the trailer as outstanding, while another praised the actress for bringing depth and authenticity to the character. Some went further, suggesting that her performance could be worthy of a National Film Award.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan under the Maddock Films banner, Eetha marks another collaboration between the producer and Shraddha after their work together on the Stree franchise.
Utekar and Vijan have also reunited following their collaboration on Chhaava.
Ithabai Narayangaonkar was a prominent figure in Maharashtra’s traditional folk performance scene, particularly known for her contributions to Lavani and Tamasha. In recognition of her work in preserving and promoting folk art, she received two President’s Medals, in 1957 and 1990.
Eetha is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on December 4.
