Raima Sen on Marriage at 47: ‘No Urge’ to Tie the Knot, Motherhood Still an Open Question
Raima Sen, 47, says she currently has no urge to marry. The actress also discusses motherhood, egg freezing and advice from her mother Moon Moon Sen.
Actress Raima Sen has said she currently feels no urge to get married, while opening up about her views on relationships, motherhood and her future plans in a recent interview.
Sen, 47, said she has not found a suitable partner in Kolkata and that the prospect of getting involved in a relationship also makes her think twice. According to the actress, her perspective on marriage has changed with age.
Sen said her mother, actress Moon Moon Sen, was once concerned about her decision to remain unmarried. However, her mother now advises her not to marry under pressure. Sen also said Moon Moon has suggested adopting a pet if she feels lonely in the future.
The actress also spoke about motherhood and the responsibilities that come with raising a child. Although she loves children, Sen said she remains uncertain whether she could take on the responsibilities of parenthood in the future.
Keeping the possibility open that she might change her mind later, Sen said she had frozen her eggs some time ago. She also said marriage is not necessary simply to become a mother.
Sen is the granddaughter of legendary actress Suchitra Sen and daughter of Moon Moon Sen. She has worked extensively in Indian cinema and is currently associated with director Joydeep Mukherjee’s upcoming film The Eken: Kerala-E KuruKshetra.
Anirban Chakraborty plays the titular character in the film. It is scheduled to release on Oct. 15.
