DHAKA — Actress Runa Khan has begun shooting for Jolpobon, an independent feature film set in Bangladesh’s haor region and directed by Rajon Talukdar.

Production began on Aug. 15 in the haor areas of Sunamganj, with filming expected to continue throughout the month.

Khan plays a character named Nirala in the film, which explores waiting and the everyday lives of people living in the haor region.

“I do not want to reveal much more at this stage. I joined the project because I liked the character. It is shaping up to be a very good film, and I hope we can give audiences something worthwhile,” Khan said.

Jolpobon marks the feature-film debut of Talukdar, who studied filmmaking at the Bangladesh Film and Television Institute. Several members of the cast and crew are also making their feature-film debuts with the project.

Khan said she was pleased to work alongside the emerging artistes involved in the film and praised their talent.

Meanwhile, Khan has several other films awaiting release.

Khan will also appear in Masud Pathik’s Bak and Kaushik Sankar Das’ Dafon, both of which are awaiting release.
