Lamine Yamal Emoji Reaction to Real Madrid Defeat Puts Old Remark Back in Spotlight
Lamine Yamal needed no words to make his reaction to Real Madrid’s Madrid derby defeat clear.
The Barcelona forward responded to teammate Marc Pubill’s post after Atletico Madrid’s victory with a series of emojis, drawing attention online and reviving a comment Yamal recently made about Real Madrid.
Atletico edged Real Madrid in a dramatic derby at the Metropolitano, with controversy adding to the late tension. Madrid defender Dean Huijsen was sent off after conceding a penalty following a foul on Giuliano Simeone, leaving Real with 10 players for the closing stages.
Real had struggled to impose themselves even before Huijsen’s dismissal. The result handed them their second league defeat of the season and dropped them to fourth in the standings.
Yamal’s reaction attracted particular interest because of an interview he recently gave to Jorge Valdano. In that interview, the Barcelona teenager said he watches Real Madrid games and enjoys it when they lose.
This time, however, Yamal made no such statement himself. His response to Pubill’s post consisted only of emojis.
The result was significant at the top of La Liga as well. Barcelona remains perfect after seven matches, having beaten Sevilla 3-1 on Saturday to move to 21 points.
Atletico climbed to second with 16 points, level with third-placed Real Betis. Real Madrid sit fourth on 15 points after seven games.
