India Series Postponed, But Bangladesh Face No Breather in Packed Cricket Schedule
DHAKA, Bangladesh — Bangladesh’s international cricket schedule remains packed despite the postponement of their planned home series against India, with a Test against Afghanistan and a tri-nation ODI series in the United Arab Emirates set to headline their October calendar.
Bangladesh were scheduled to host India for three ODIs and three T20Is in September. The series has since been postponed, leaving the Bangladesh team without international cricket for almost a month.
The team’s international campaign is expected to resume with the Asian Games later this month. After the Games, Bangladesh will travel to the UAE to face Afghanistan in a Test before joining Afghanistan and Zimbabwe in a tri-nation ODI series.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board announced the schedule Tuesday.
The Test against Afghanistan will begin Oct. 9. The venue for the five-day match in the UAE has yet to be announced. If the Test goes the full distance, it will conclude Oct. 13.
The tri-nation ODI series will begin Oct. 17, when Bangladesh face Zimbabwe. Afghanistan will play Zimbabwe on Oct. 19, followed by Afghanistan’s match against Bangladesh on Oct. 21.
Each team will play the other once in the league stage, with the top two teams advancing to the final on Oct. 23.
The venues and start times for the ODI matches have not yet been announced.
West Indies, South Africa Tours to Follow
Bangladesh will return home after the UAE tour and are scheduled to face the West Indies in a two-Test series toward the end of October.
The team will then travel to South Africa in November for an extensive tour featuring three ODIs, three T20Is and two Tests.
The South Africa tour is expected to bring Bangladesh’s international cricket calendar for 2026 to a close.
Although the postponement of the India series has created a gap in Bangladesh’s schedule, the team faces a demanding run of international assignments from late September through the end of the year, beginning with the Asian Games and followed by series against Afghanistan, the West Indies and South Africa.
