Mithun Chakraborty and Rajinikanth are set to share the screen again after nearly three decades, with the veteran Bollywood actor reportedly joining the cast of Nelson Dilipkumar’s upcoming film Jailer 2.

According to reports in Indian media, Chakraborty will play an important role in the sequel to Rajinikanth’s 2023 blockbuster Jailer. Details about his character have not yet been officially disclosed.

The two actors have previously appeared together in the 1989 Hindi film Bhrashtachar and the 1995 Bengali film Bhagya Debata. Their reunion in Jailer 2 will mark their first film together in about 31 years.

Rajinikanth is expected to return as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, the character he played in Jailer. The 2023 action film was a major commercial success, raising expectations for its sequel.

The cast of Jailer 2 is also expected to include Vidya Balan, S.J. Suryah, Sooraj Venjaramoodu and Jatin Sarna. Kannada star Shiva Rajkumar, Ramya Krishnan and Jackie Shroff have also been linked to the project.

While the makers have yet to reveal full details of the storyline and Chakraborty’s role, his reported addition to the cast has added to the anticipation surrounding the sequel.
