The controversy comes shortly after the Trump administration completed an extensive rehabilitation project designed to improve the appearance of the iconic Reflecting Pool ahead of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations. Trump Claims Vandalism Damaged Newly Renovated Pool

In posts on Truth Social and public remarks over the weekend, Trump said vandals damaged the Reflecting Pool by pouring corrosive chemicals into the water and harming sections of the newly installed surface. He also stated that several individuals had been arrested in connection with the alleged vandalism and suggested that portions of the pool may need to be drained again for repairs. 

“We’ve had some real problems with vandalism,” Trump said, arguing that the damage occurred only days after the renovation was completed. The president maintained that repairs would move forward quickly following discussions with contractors.
