ANAHEIM, Calif. — A 13-year-old guest was taken to a local hospital for evaluation after exiting a ride vehicle on Disneyland’s Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction before the ride had ended, park officials confirmed.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening at the popular water-based attraction, which features a dramatic final drop of approximately 50 feet. According to Disneyland officials, the teenager climbed out of a log ride vehicle during the attraction’s operation, prompting staff to immediately stop the ride.

After leaving the vehicle, the guest continued along part of the attraction before being assisted by Disneyland cast members. As a precaution, the teen was transported to a hospital for medical evaluation and was later released. The Anaheim Fire Department also responded to the scene.

Witnesses Report Slide Down Final Drop

Several park guests who claimed to have witnessed the incident posted accounts on social media, alleging that the teenager slid down the ride’s final descent after exiting the vehicle. Disneyland has not publicly confirmed those reports, although multiple eyewitness accounts described seeing the boy descend the attraction’s steep drop before the ride was halted.

Based on Disney’s animated movie *The Princess and the Frog*, the attraction debuted in late 2024 and took the place of the popular Splash Mountain ride. The log-flume attraction concludes with a five-story plunge that is one of the ride’s signature features.

Ride Temporarily Closed

Following the incident, Disneyland suspended operations of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure while authorities reviewed the situation. Inspectors from the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) examined the attraction the following day before approving its reopening. The ride resumed normal operations after the inspection was completed.

Disneyland released a brief statement confirming the incident and emphasizing that the ride was stopped immediately after staff became aware that a guest had exited the vehicle. Park officials said the attraction is currently operating normally.

Questions About Disneyland ride closures Safety

While serious incidents on Disneyland attractions remain rare, the event has sparked discussion about ride safety and guest behavior. Industry experts note that water rides such as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure typically rely on operational procedures and rider compliance rather than extensive restraint systems, making it essential for guests to remain seated throughout the experience.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding why the teenager exited the ride vehicle. Disneyland has not indicated whether further changes to ride operations or safety procedures are being considered.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of following all ride instructions and remaining inside designated vehicles until attractions have come to a complete stop and guests are directed to exit by park personnel.

Despite the unusual nature of the event, officials confirmed that the teenager suffered no life-threatening injuries and was released after medical evaluation.
