PSG Reach Champions League Final After Holding Bayern Munich at Allianz Arena

Paris Saint-Germain booked their place in the UEFA Champions League final after a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.

After winning an entertaining first-leg clash 5-4 in Paris, PSG secured a 6-5 aggregate victory to advance to the final, where they will face Arsenal in Budapest on May 30.

PSG One Step Away From European Glory

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi praised his team’s determination after the dramatic semifinal triumph.

“It’s magnificent, two finals. Now we will go there and try to win a second star. I told the players we are warriors,” he said after the match.

Under manager Luis Enrique, PSG delivered a disciplined defensive performance to limit Bayern’s dangerous attacking trio of Harry Kane, Luis Díaz, and Michael Olise.

Midfielder João Neves highlighted the team’s resilience after reaching the final.

“We know how to suffer and we’re ready for every challenge. We’re very proud of how far we’ve come,” Neves said.

Ousmane Dembélé Gives PSG the Lead

Ousmane Dembélé opened the scoring with a powerful first-time finish following brilliant work from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia down the left wing.

Kvaratskhelia’s assist also earned him a place in Champions League history. The Georgian star became the first player to register a goal or assist in seven consecutive knockout-stage matches in a single season. He also matched Kylian Mbappé with 16 goal contributions in this season’s tournament.

Bayern Munich Frustrated by Refereeing Decisions

Bayern players and fans were left furious after two controversial handball incidents involving PSG defenders Nuno Mendes and João Neves were not given by the referee.

Replays suggested the referee had already stopped play for a handball by Bayern midfielder Konrad Laimer before the Mendes incident occurred.

Despite dominating possession for long periods, Bayern struggled to break through PSG’s organized defense.

Manuel Neuer Keeps Bayern Alive

Veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer produced several outstanding saves to keep Bayern in the contest. He denied Désiré Doué and Kvaratskhelia multiple times during the second half.

PSG continued to threaten on the counterattack, with Doué narrowly missing the target and Kvaratskhelia wasting a golden chance after racing clear of Bayern’s defense.

Harry Kane Scores Late but Bayern Fall Short

England captain Harry Kane scored a stoppage-time goal to give Bayern hope, smashing the ball into the roof of the net late in the match. However, the German champions could not complete a comeback as PSG held firm to secure their place in the final.

Bayern had hoped to repeat their historic trebles from 2013 and 2020, but their European campaign ended just short of another final appearance.

Arsenal Await PSG in Budapest Final

Arsenal reached the Champions League final after defeating Atlético Madrid 1-0 on Tuesday, advancing 2-1 on aggregate against Diego Simeone’s side.

PSG will now aim to become only the second club to successfully defend the Champions League title, following Real Madrid, who achieved the feat between 2016 and 2018.
