MUMBAI: RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das has requested banks and charge gadget operators to noticeably toughen and modernize the capability in their gadget as day by day transactions beneath the unified charge interface (UPI) are more likely to hit 100 crore quickly.
“Currently there are 26 crore transactions per day in UPI and the system has capacity to handle 100 crore per day. So, system is there to onboard new customers. NPCI is running three systems parallely so that if there is a problem in one the others are in operation,” mentioned Das, whilst addressing virtual charge consciousness week in RBI.
Launching the ‘Har Payment Digital’ venture, Das mentioned RBI will begin a ’75 Digital Villages’ program in observance of 75 years of Independence. Under this programme, Payment System Operators (PSOs) will undertake 75 villages around the nation and convert them into virtual payment-enabled villages.
The governor mentioned the central financial institution has introduced campaigns to extend consciousness amongst customers to not proportion confidential knowledge.
