What is hallmarking in jewelry?

How to spot hallmarks in gold jewelry?
There are 3 symbols in a trademark. Before purchasing any piece of gold jewelry, shoppers must take note of checking that it comprises all 3 symbols – a BIS emblem, a purity mark, and a 3rd HUID image.
The BIS – Bureau of Indian Standards operates a product certification scheme to make sure compliance with Indian requirements, whilst HUID is a novel quantity given to each and every piece of jewelery on the time of hallmarking, stamped manually on the Assaying & Hallmarking centre.
