NEW DELHI: Flights of the one state-owned fastened wing airplane airways — Alliance Air (AA) — had been disrupted on Monday with numerous pilots reporting sick, The cash-strapped regional airline, which goes to be offered off quickly, has been going through pilot discontent as they allege no longer being paid as in keeping with settlement.
“Almost 100 pilots, representing over 80% of Alliance Air’s total pilot strength, have Reported sick. Over 60% departures have been cancelled,” sources said. The airline did not say how many pilots reported sick.
An AA spokesperson admitted the airline on Monday witnessed “certain disruption of flights due to operational reasons. The unforeseen disruption in logistic chain is directly impacting timely availability of spares restricting the airline to fly aircraft due to safety reasons combined with a section of dissatisfied pilots who en masse reported sick without giving any prior intimation… resulted in cancellation of flights operations on 24 routes. ,
“This (move by pilots) has inconvenienced the traveling public and also resulted in revenue loss. The airline has managed to operate the remaining flights with the help of senior pilots. As no formal notice was served by this section of employees, the management is taking a serious view of this development. Passengers were kept informed of these cancellations and have been facilitated with either full refund, or have been accommodated on alternate flights,” the spokesperson added.
