Airlines to present main points of global passengers to Customs sooner than flight

New Delhi, Aug 9 (PTI) The govt has requested airways to proportion touch and cost main points of all global passengers with customs officers 24 hours sooner than the departure of flights. The transfer is aimed toward combating criminals from fleeing the rustic.

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on Monday notified the ‘Passenger Name Record Information Regulations, 2022’ asking airways to conform to it.

The objective of this law is to behavior a “risk analysis” of passengers to forestall financial and different criminals from escaping. Along with this, this provision will lend a hand in checking any unlawful industry like smuggling.

According to this notification, “Every air operator shall inform the Customs Department about the names and other records of the passengers. The operators have already collected this information as part of normal business operations.

It further stated that every operator would have to register with Customs for its implementation.

Airlines will have to give information of international passengers coming to and out of India. This information will also include the name of the passenger, billing/payment information (credit card number), date of issue of the ticket along with the names of others traveling on the same PNR ticket.
